Corn Products Cali Plant Receives Prestigious TPM Excellence Award
March 10,2011

Demonstrating its commitment to both safety and operating excellence, Corn Products’ Cali, Colombia facility became the first Corn Products facility - as well as the first continuous process plant in Colombia - to receive one of the prestigious 2010 awards for Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Excellence in March 2011 in Kyoto, Japan.

The Japanese Institute of Plant Maintenance bestows awards for TPM Excellence annually to companies that complete a rigorous program designed to eliminate accidents, failures and defects. Cali’s management pursued this award in recognition of the TPM program’s focus on establishing a culture of operating excellence and employee development in support of operational excellence.

“The implementation of the TPM process has already contributed to gains in flexibility, speed, reliability, quality and safety at the Cali facility,” said Alvaro J. Lopez, President and General Manager for Corn Products’ Andean region. Plant employees have also gained a better understanding of the impact of their daily activities on the facility’s ultimate success.

Approximately 2,000 plants worldwide have received this award since its inception in 1964.  This year, in addition to the Cali plant, the TPM Excellence award was also granted to several other world class companies.
